2023 Adams County Municipal Elections

The 2023 Municipal General election will be held on Nov. 7, 2023.

Mail-in ballots will be mailed by early October.

County positions available in the 2023 election are commissioner, district attorney, register and recorder, county controller, prothonotary, and coroner. About half of the seats on every school board, borough council, and township board of supervisors will also be open.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2023 PA STATE ELECTION CYCLE

October 23Last day to REGISTER before the November election
October 31Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot
November 7Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8:00 P.M.) 
November 7MUNICIPAL ELECTION
November 8First day to REGISTER after November election 
November 14Last day for County Board of Elections to receive voted military and overseas absentee ballots (submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 P.M. on November 6)

Mail-in ballots can be mailed or dropped off in the elections office on the first floor of the county courthouse at the corner of Baltimore and Middle Streets in Gettysburg. The office said the drop off box in the courthouse lobby would be available but no date was given for its availability.

A guide to the candidates will be posted before the elections.

Mail-in ballot tips

Mail-in ballots may be returned using the drop box at the county courthouse between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The dropoff box at the courthouse is on the first floor just inside the door.

The courthouse is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The courthouse will remain open until 8:00 p.m. on election day.

If you need any help completing your mail-in ballot, call the elections office at 717.337.9832 and they will help.

If you cannot get to the drop box, call the elections office. They will come out to pick up your ballot if you pull over in front of the courthouse.
