Vote Them Out: Standing Up for America’s Election Integrity

The news this morning wasn’t good. Climate regulations rolled back, nuclear arms tests, ICE controversies, Epstein files. That’s to say nothing of the blatant “slap in the face” delivered to America by the nefarious Bad Bunny.

We can go round and round concerning what can be done at this critical juncture in American history, but there’s only one thing that heretofore has been guaranteed effective, and it’s an old, tried, and true solution: Vote them out. That’s where our efforts should be concentrated. Now, however, it’s also where our foremost concern should lie.

Late last month, the President sent Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, to the state of Georgia, so that she might oversee an FBI investigation of the 2020 election that Trump still can’t admit he lost.

Gabbard has got to know that, should she report to the President that, nope, she didn’t find anything new, the next new thing she’s likely to be looking for is a job.

He wants something, anything, real or imagined, that will cast some new, ambiguous yet ominous-sounding doubt on those results from long ago. But not just so that he may continue to perpetuate one of his favorite falsehoods.

More importantly, he needs fuel for fomenting doubt and suspicion in advance of the 2026 fall elections, when Republicans stand to receive the traditional mid-term “shellacking” as former President (and full-grown adult) Barack Obama once put it.

Back in 2010, Obama said that he was humbled and needed to do a better job. Maybe it’s me, but that doesn’t sound like something Trump might say.

If his army of invertebrates suffers heavy casualties, Trump could spend the last two years of his term amid great opposition. That might be difficult for him to process.

Therefore, he’ll need his supporting Republicans to either win or have some fresh inspiration for contending they won. A few new anecdotal tales of impropriety, somewhere, at some level, might help. Who knows? He could then seek to muddle up the process, delay the results, or federalize the process, something he’s already talking about. And who knows what might happen in 2028?

I believe that election officials in Georgia and across the United States of America have, and will, do their jobs as they’ve always done – fairly and diligently – so that all of us can cast our votes in full faith, without intimidation, confident of an honest outcome.

Beyond that, those same officials should be rightfully resentful, not only that this talk has survived this long, but that it seems poised for a revival.

We must stand up at every level – state, county, ward, precinct, in-person, via mail – for the process that has been the envy of the world. Fair, honest, smart, dedicated, patriotic people are doing this work.

While it might seem like a lot of things are broken in this country, our election process is not one of them. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.
