Don’t kick the can

“Kick the Can” was a popular game during the ’40s and early ’50s.

The game reminds me of what could happen with the Adams County trade school discussions.

I had the pleasure of working on a county trade school committee during the early ’70s, representing Gettysburg Area School District. After approximately 18–24 months of discussion on why a technical school was needed and where to build the facility, the committee and school districts involved decided to “kick the can” down the road of time, as it were, and wait for a more opportune time.

Low and behold, the rusty, dented, old can has reappeared 54 years later. My wish is that all communities involved would support the Adams County Technical Institute Committee and move forward.

Please do not “kick the can” down the road again.
