Through the COVID-19 Fund, the Community Foundation will track the shifting needs created by the pandemic to deploy grant dollars effectively. As gifts from the community are received, the Community Foundation will search out unmet needs with additional grants to be awarded in July and August. This first round goes to the following:

Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center – $3,200 for cell phones and laptop computers to continue effective support for victims of child abuse and their families during a time when in-person visits must be minimized.

Adams County Historical Society, Inc. – $1,187 for technology upgrades to allow selected programming to be offered online.

Adams County Library System – $6,300 to expand the digital library catalog to meet soaring  demand resulting from remote learning and the stay-at-home order.

Adams Rescue Mission – $12,000 to keep the organization’s two homeless shelters open despite months of lost revenue from the thrift store and recycling center.

Gettysburg Community Theatre, Inc. – $8,000 to sustain the organization while closed and provide unbudgeted, necessary resources for re-opening, including cleaning and personal protection supplies.

Main Street Gettysburg, Inc. – $6,000 to help Gettysburg’s economic development agency explore opportunities for restarting the local economy while tourism, the agency’s usual funding stream, is shut down.
