The Adams County Court of Common Pleas entered an order this morning naming Mark Clowney as the County Commissioner to replace Marty Qually who resigned to accept a position with PA State Department of Agriculture. Clowney’s tenure as Commissioner, until the end of the current term is effective immediately. The full Court accepted resumes and interviewed several candidates prior to selecting Clowney. Mark is well known to County staff, residents and partners in his 27-year role as Adams County Senior Planner in the Rural Resources Division of the Planning Department. On behalf of Commissioner Martin and myself – we welcome Mark to the Adams County Board of Commissioners and look forward to his input and contributions!
We would also like to recognize and thank the other candidates who stepped up to submit their resumes to the Court. Your willingness to engage in public service to Adams County residents is commendable. The current commissioner term is the remainder of 2026 and 2027. All county commissioners in Pennsylvania are up for election in 2027 for the 2028-31 term.
