Adams County voters who want to vote by mail can apply for a ballot, complete it and return it in one visit to the county elections office, once in-person service begins.
On-demand mail voting is scheduled to start Monday, Oct. 5. Pennsylvania’s Department of State describes the service as a way for registered voters to request, receive, vote and submit a ballot at their county election office.
The Adams County Elections and Voter Registration office is at 230 Greenamyer Lane, Suite 100, in Gettysburg. The county lists regular office hours as 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voters may apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot without giving a reason. The state says the county must receive an application for the Nov. 3 general election by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The county’s election calendar lists Monday, Oct. 19, as the last day to register to vote in the general election. Voters can check their registration and ballot status through the state’s voter services website.
Anyone returning a completed mail ballot must make sure it reaches the county election office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3. A postmark by that deadline does not count as receipt.
Voters who prefer to vote at a polling place can do so on Election Day. Adams County polling places are scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Because ballot availability and office procedures can change, voters can confirm details with the Adams County Elections and Voter Registration office at 717-337-9832 or through the county’s election information pages.
