GETTYSBURG, Pa. On a hot and sunny day, the 44th Annual Cross Country Alumni Race took place at Gettysburg College with current student-athletes and alumni competing against one another in the yearly tradition.
After hosting a virtual Alumni Race in 2020 due to the pandemic, the current Bullets swept both 5K races, with the women collecting a 25-36 win and the men claiming a 26-30 victory.
Capturing the crown in the women’s race this year was 2017 grad Amanda Asaro, blazing to the finish line with a time of 19:21.03. Former All-American Elizabeth Hilfrank ’18 finished as the runner-up (20:30.6) and senior Kate O’Brien (Lynchburg, Pa./Virginia Episcopal School) took third (20:58.6).
After winning the race in 2019, Sam Sheldon ’20 cruised the 5K course in 15:38.3 to place first for the second time. Alex Petrecca ’19 and senior Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) posted second (16:01.1) and third (16:27.2), respectively.
The women’s race featured a total of 17 alumnae, while a total of 18 alumni ran in the men’s race.
