Arendtsville celebrates 115 Years of fire company service with Community Block Party

The Arendtsville community gathered Saturday to celebrate the Arendtsville Fire Company’s 115th anniversary with a block party that brought together residents, local businesses, firefighters, and visitors for a day of family-friendly activities and community pride.

The celebration featured live music, pony rides, a waterslide, a bounce house, games, and activities for all ages. Local vendors included Arendtsville Canteen, Ahhh Re-Fresh-Ing LLC, Antietam Dairy, Bounce Boys, Chamberlin & Wingert Sanitary Services, James Morley, Acoustic Rose, and Stephanie Auer.

Mayor April Jones described the event as “an amazing day for Arendtsville” and thanked everyone who helped make the celebration possible.

“I would like to thank the Arendtsville Fire Co. for hosting this amazing party,” said Jones, who also serves as vice president of the fire company. “We love our firefighters.”

A highlight of the celebration was the display of a 1927 fire truck that is currently being restored by the fire company. Community members also donated homemade baked goods for a silent auction that raised $330 to support the organization and its continued service.

Despite forecasts calling for rain, the weather cooperated. Jones offered “a special thank you to Mother Nature for stopping the rain so we could have this amazing party.”

Jones said the anniversary celebration reflects her ongoing effort to create events that bring neighbors together and strengthen community involvement.

“Our community is why we are so successful,” she said. “They are always showing up. Thank you for contributing, volunteering, and showing everyone why Arendtsville is amazing.”

Reflecting on the purpose of the event, Jones added, “This is one of the many events that are intended to bring the community out, engage, and celebrate why we live in Adams County.”

Jones said she plans to continue organizing activities that encourage residents to connect with one another, volunteer, and take pride in their community. Upcoming events include a community-wide yard sale July 9–11, Paint in the Park on July 19, and a free movie night featuring Monsters, Inc. on July 31, with food trucks opening before the movie begins at dusk.

The Arendtsville Fire Company also recently participated in the Upper Adams 250th celebration, displaying several pieces of firefighting apparatus.
