Candidate statement: Kathleen Pratt, Pennsylvania House District 91

It has been a cornerstone of my life to find ways I can help make my community, and the lives of the good people I share it with, better. For 27 years, I have lived, worked, volunteered, held elected and appointed positions, and along with my husband raised my family in the 91st. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges we face and have made me more committed to embracing the opportunities ahead.

Voters have put their trust in me twice by electing me to the Gettysburg Area School District board. The Adams County Commissioners appointed me to be a trustee for the Adams County Library System. I currently serve in both roles and use my MBA and business expertise gained from holding national and regional marketing positions in both for-profit and non-profit businesses. I am uniquely qualified to be forward focused as a business person turned business professor, having also taught many years at the Harrisburg Area Community College.

I’m seeking this office because people of all political parties asked me to, sharing their appreciation that I put people ahead of politics while working to find reasonable solutions to issues.

People are hurting. We have a pit in our stomach at the gas pump. Grocery carts are half empty. And we all just want peace of mind when it comes to healthcare. When I’m elected, my first priority will be representing you. I won’t work for lobbyists. I won’t work for special interests. I will work for you, the good people of the 91st district.

Listening to you, your concerns are my top priorities.

-Data Centers. Not on my watch in their current form, guzzling our fresh water and giving us only higher energy costs while contaminating our fishing streams and soil in return.

-Affordability Solutions. Yes, they can be found. And don’t believe anyone who tells you differently. I will be relentless as I seek out solutions and build partnerships across the aisle to make it happen.

-Giving Taxpayers a Break. I’ll work to identify a special revenue stream, one that doesn’t cost you a penny more, that will benefit public education and provide property tax relief.

Thank you for considering my candidacy and joining the other Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters who are ready for a fresh, energized, perspective in Harrisburg. I am a new voice, and a better choice.
