Conewago Valley School District (CVSD) reported a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Conewago Township Elementary on Friday.
This brings the total number of cases at CVSD to six including one at the high school, three at New Oxford Middle School, one at Conewago Valley Intermediate School and one at New Oxford High School.
CAVSD announced that the district is taking measures in compliance with additional guidance and that the infected individual will isolate for 10 days and be symptom-free and fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
Classes resumed as normal in the district today.
Superintendent Dr. Christopher Rudisill made the following announcement regarding the incident.
Per our established protocol, we have thoroughly cleaned and disinfected potentially exposed spaces and classrooms, and we have taken all the necessary precautions. We are in contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and we will continue to take the steps necessary to protect the health of our students and staff.
We will continue with our strict cleaning protocols and contact any person who may have been exposed while in the building and advise them to quarantine for 14 days. The definition of exposure is a person who was within six feet of the person for at least 15 consecutive minutes. The District has been in contact with any person who meets the definition of exposure (considered “close contacts”) while in our building and has directed them to follow appropriate quarantine guidelines.
The District will continue to monitor our students and staff for any additional probable or confirmed COVID-19 cases, and we will continue to seek guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and communicate any changes to our families and staff as soon as possible. Ensuring that our students, staff, and school environment are safe remains of greatest importance to us. As a reminder, please continue to closely monitor your child’s health and seek medical attention if any new symptoms arise that are new and/or not explained by another reason.
