Couples invited to renew vows at ‘Gettysburg Loves Love’ event

Lovebirds are invited to flock to the heart of Gettysburg for a vow renewal event celebrating the season of love in what many are calling the most romantic small town in Pennsylvania.

“Gettysburg Loves Love”, a first-time event presented by Destination Gettysburg, Community Media of South Central PA, and Main Street Gettysburg, will take place Feb. 17 on the steps of the Gettysburg Hotel at 1 Lincoln Square from 2 to 4 p.m.

Gettysburg Mayor Rita C. Frealing will lead married couples through a vow renewal ceremony at 3 p.m., which will be live streamed by Community Media. Visitors can also look forward to raffle prizes, photos at the kissing booth, live music, and more.

Destination Gettysburg has announced that as as of today, 95 couples have registered for the free event, hailing from Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Many couples will be celebrating anniversaries, ranging from newlyweds to sweethearts who have been married for nearly 60 years.

The event will include prize drawings, photos at the kissing booth, live music, hot chocolate, desserts and more.

“Gettysburg Loves Love is all about celebrating the love we have for each other and for this community,” Destination Gettysburg Director of Partnership Amy Welsh said. “Countless people hold love in their hearts for this historic town, and we want to shine a spotlight on Gettysburg’s romantic, cozy charm.”

Couples are encouraged to RSVP for the vow renewal ceremony at GettysburgLove.org. Families, friends, and singles are also welcome to join in this free outdoor event.

The Valentine’s celebration comes on the heels of Gettysburg being recognized as one of the top romantic destinations in the region. New York Travel Guides crowned Gettysburg as the most romantic small town in Pennsylvania, and U.S. News & World Report claimed Gettysburg as one of the Top 20 most romantic getaways in the Keystone State.
