The Conewago Valley School District Board of Directors has hired Upper Adams School District’s Superintendent to the position of Assistant Superintendent for a term beginning no later than January 13, 2025 until June 30, 2029.
Board members Sauter, Flickinger, Buckley, Meckley, and board president Kindschuh voted in favor of the hire, while board members Swope, Getz, and Miller voted no. Board member Krug abstained.

Before the vote, Getz said “After seeing a national story of what in my opinion was the mistreatment of one of the students at Upper Adams under Dr. Doll’s leadership I don’t think I’m going to be able to support his selection and still claim to be concerned about the students of our school district.”
Discussions and decisions by the UASD board have recently been contentious with disagreements over library book challenges, the hiring of an independent council, and disciplinary policies for students.
According to the UASD website, Doll has over 28 years of combined educational and administrative experiences in both Maryland and Pennsylvania public schools and has served as an art teacher, coach, middle school assistant principal, elementary principal and assistant superintendent. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and Wilson College.
Doll earned his Doctorate of Education in Educational and Organizational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his Master’s Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD and his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD.
Dr. Doll is a great choice. I’ve known him for many years and consider him a friend. You could not ask for a more sincere or humble person to lead, in my opinion. I can attest that he cares about his staff. My sister-law worked for Dr. Doll when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was very supportive and she always talked so highly of “Dr. Doll.” As a parent of children in CVSD, it brings me a sense of pride to know he will be part of the leadership in our school.
