Do Your Job Rep. Joyce

I wish I could say with more pride that I reside in Pennsylvania’s 13th U.S. Congressional District.

Congressman John Joyce has represented the 13th since 2019. While he may be an honorable man, Joyce is not honoring his oath of office, which includes supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Specifically, Joyce is not standing up to President Trump for allowing Elon Musk and his band of overly ambitious tech bros to run roughshod over the federal government, cutting jobs, capturing our sensitive information, and slicing funds allocated by Congress willy-nilly without any regard to the penalties.

Trump may be continuing a decades long effort to cut government spending along with many regulations that keep us safe, but he is not considering the rule of law or considering the consequences that will fall on us. But even that is not the point here. Republicans in Congress are not defending Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution, which gives them the power to collect taxes and regulate commerce. There is nothing in there about Congress subcontracting this out to anyone, particularly not to an unelected native-born South African with anti-American and pro-fascist tendencies.

The power to tax and spend lies with Congress, and there is nothing in the Constitution that allows the U.S. President to do Congress’ job. We don’t elect kings…at least we haven’t until now.

So far, Joyce has congratulated Trump on his election but as far as I can see, has not pushed back on Trump’s disregard for the Constitution. Joyce’s inability to do so means we will pay the consequences. Democrats and Republicans in Congress have been concerned about reducing the nation’s debt and annual deficits but it is not Trump and Musk’s job to arrogantly slash spending (interestingly starting with institutions that regulate Musk’s illegal actions). By so doing, Trump hopes to continue to increase major tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.

If he stands up, Joyce will take a lot of guff from collaborating Republicans and from right-wing voters who may have fallen asleep in high school civics class. But that’s not the point. Joyce collects a congressman’s paycheck, and he should do the job he was elected to do, per the Constitution.

If you agree, contact Rep. Joyce’s office and tell him to work for us and not subcontract out to Trump and Musk.

Sincerely,

Duane Kanagy, Gettysburg

Thank you for calling Joyce out. I have been disturbed by Joyce’s inattention to the dangers that Trump and his lackies represent every day.

The last time I checked none of the people in tech jobs in our government were voted for. Of course, they either need to be hired or contracted. Elon is no exception. He is considered a “special government employee.” Are you thinking it would be better for him to be put on the payroll? As you know he waived getting a salary. I am guessing that sometime in the future DOGE will be an official cabinet position. It should be! It’s stunning there is no fiscal accountability in the departments. For now, Elon reports to the high-ranking government officials, including… Read more »

I guess Trump fired all the auditor generals because we are just supposed to trust an unvetted South African neo-Nazi billionaire and his tech bros, including one nicknamed “Big Balls” who is the grandchild of a KGB official and Soviet spy? What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

The last time I checked it was the President’s right to sign the executive orders, and they are to be executed during his term unless they are considered unconstitutional. So far, he has been within the law. It’s up to Congress to vote and codify his orders into law. That’s why most of Biden’s orders were so easily reversed. He didn’t take the time and energy to get Congress to vote them into law probably because he didn’t have the votes. Most people do not understand that the job description of the President is to be an executor. It’s not… Read more »

The failure of this republican controlled congress to make any effort to uphold the constitution, to which they swore an oath, is nauseating. Although they bash the guy in the white house when they are behind closed doors, they are too cowardly to do their job and defy him when it actually counts. Please, for the sake of our country, pick up your phone and call every elected official that was on your ballot and tell them to defy this regime, protect their constituents, and uphold the constitution. We pay them to do as they promised but so far, they… Read more »

Also would someone please send an American newspaper e.g. The Wall Street Journal, to Joyce and the Whitehouse, so they will understand that Ukraine DID NOT START THE WAR WITH RUSSIA! Also let’s not have a rerun of Munich 1938. The consequences this time will potentially be far worse.
