Ernie’s Texas Lunch has a new name

After more than 100 years in Gettysburg, Ernie’s Texas Lunch will have a new name.

The current owner Ernie Kranias, has announced he is selling the Gettysburg fixture establishment at 58 Chambersburg St. to Harry Tassou, the owner of Olivia’s Retaurant, located south of Gettysburg.

Kranias said the new name will be the Honey Bee Restaurant, featuring Ernie’s Texas lunch hot dogs.

“Our staff is staying on,” said Kranias on a Facebook post. “None of the important stuff is changing. We feel this is as much a partnership as a transaction. Harry wants to continue my family’s legacy through his family’s legacy.”

Ernie’s serves traditional breakfast items including eggs, omelets, and pancakes, as well as hot dogs, fries, burgers, and chili. The unique menu offerings, including the Texas Weiner, Cheese Dog, Dummy Ho Hot Dog, and the Taco Dog, are all homemade and follow recipes that have done well for 100 years.

“Thanks for supporting us,” said Kranias.

If it is successful, why is he changing the name. If I were a tourist, I’d just sigh and walk away. they probably don’t get this Newsletter.
