Everyone is invited to the annual Salsa on the Square festival Friday evening, September 27, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. taking place in Gettysburg in the first block of Carlisle Street, between Lincoln Square and the railroad tracks.
Why “Salsa on the Square”? The event celebrates the vital role of the Latin-American population in and around Adams County, and at the same time honors the almost 40 years of Gettysburg’s sister city relationship with León, Nicaragua, where Project Gettysburg/León supports a wide range of sustainable initiatives.

Be ready for activity! On stage performing Latin music will be Hector Rosado and his “Orquestra A-CHE,” while folks, young and old, dance in the street. DJ Solalinde will play dance music between sets and before the band begins. A special attraction will be the dance group from Casa Guanajuato, which will perform a traditional Mexican dance. And yes, the Gigantona, a very tall Nicaraguan folk doll, again will make her appearance, swinging around to some of the music
No one can go hungry. Food appropriate to the Latin American theme will be available from food trucks, including Papa Louie’s, the Taco Trap House, Taqueria La Guera, and Tacos Monarca. In addition, Waldo’s and Company will be serving drinks.
An area in the street will offer children’s activities, such as face-painting, and during the evening people can enjoy watching the creation on the pavement of an artistic work in a colorful sawdust carpet.

Please note that due to the forecast of rain, PGL has moved the event to an indoor location. We will see you in the Gettysburg College ballroom in the College Union Building. All details remain the same (same food trucks, band, DJ, children’s activities). Parking is available for free in Masters Lot and Stadium Lot. If you park on the street (West Lincoln), you’ll have to pay with the parking app.
