WellSpan Health has been recognized as the first Robotic Surgery Network Center of Excellence in Pennsylvania by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). SRC is a prestigious designation that highlights the health system’s commitment to surgical excellence, patient safety, and high-quality outcomes.
This national recognition follows recent accreditations for WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, along with WellSpan Ephrata Hospital and WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, as Robotic Centers of Excellence. These join WellSpan York Hospital, accredited in 2023, and WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, accredited in May 2025.
With five of the seven SRC-accredited acute care hospitals in Pennsylvania now part of the WellSpan system, WellSpan becomes one of only three health systems in the United States to achieve Network Center of Excellence status in robotic surgery.
The designation reflects WellSpan’s system-wide dedication to providing advanced surgical options and ensuring that care teams have access to the best tools and training available.
SRC accredits top facilities, surgeons, and medical professionals worldwide. Healthcare facilities and surgeons seeking SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures emphasizing patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
