One of Hersheypark’s most recognizable water attractions will make its final splash this summer.
Hersheypark announced that Tidal Force, the park’s towering flume ride, will close permanently after Sept. 7, ending a 32-year run that began in 1994.
The park revealed the closure on its website, noting that the ride has delivered some of the biggest splashes in Hersheypark history. Tidal Force opened in 1994 and quickly became a favorite for visitors seeking both thrills and a way to cool off during the summer months.
The attraction features a 100-foot climb before sending riders plunging down at speeds exceeding 50 mph. The dramatic drop creates a massive wall of water that often drenches not only riders but also guests walking along the nearby midway.
In announcing the ride’s retirement, Hersheypark described the closure as the “final tide” for an attraction that has entertained generations of visitors.
Tidal Force was among the park’s signature water rides and became known for its distinctive splashdown, one of the largest in the park. For many guests, riding Tidal Force—or watching others get soaked from a safe distance—became a summertime tradition.
The ride’s final day of operation will coincide with the end of the 2026 summer season on Sept. 7.
Hersheypark has not announced what, if anything, will replace Tidal Force in the future. Until its final day, however, visitors still have the opportunity to experience the ride’s steep climb, high-speed plunge, and trademark soaking one last time.
