The LoveYourBrain Foundation, a national non-profit serving those affected by brain injury in the US, Canada and around the globe, and an international leader in scientific research to provide evidence-based yoga and mindfulness programs to the brain injury community, has announced today their endorsement of RISE Yoga, a local yoga studio on Fairfield Road in Gettysburg, as an official partner.
RISE Yoga Gettysburg opened its doors in September 2023 under the leadership of Gettysburg native, Alli Crowell, within a shared holistic health space at Phoenix Wellness Center, and alongside a dynamic team of instructors. RISE offers yoga “for every body, every mind, and every season of life” with an emphasis on accessibility, mental health, and integrated classes accommodating a variety of backgrounds, needs and levels of experience.
This week, the LoveYourBrain Foundation announced its official endorsement of RISE Yoga as a partner studio, a designation offered to a limited number of in-person yoga studios around the country, to facilitate its research-backed yoga curriculum to support resilience and healing following a brain injury. The program is designed for those who have personally experienced mild to severe traumatic brain injury (including concussion), as well as acquired brain injuries such as stroke or brain tumor, and their caregivers.
LYB’s announcement shared, “RISE’s vision is greatly aligned with LoveYourBrain – to support healing, resilience and post-traumatic growth by offering a culture of care and responsiveness to individual needs and by empowering students to carry their practice off their mats and into their daily lives in a way that is meaningful and accessible to each person.” Nina Miller has been practicing yoga at the studio for over a year and says, “My favorite thing about practicing at RISE are the instructors and new relationships that I am starting to build…as soon as I walk through the door, I feel welcomed and at peace.”
RISE studio founder, Alli, also an individual with lived experience of traumatic brain injury, shares, “Our intention at RISE is to build community, not only for folks who have experienced brain injury, but for all people navigating life’s inevitable changes and challenges. I continue to find the loving support of the community I have met through LoveYourBrain and the adaptive yoga and mindfulness practices I have learned from them to be a pillar of my wellness. Our team at RISE is thrilled to serve as a LYB partner so that we can share the gifts of their research and programming in-person in south-central Pennsylvania.”
RISE’s first 6-week LoveYourBrain yoga class starts March 5th – in line with Brain Injury Awareness month – and is offered on a tiered equity pricing model. Full and partial scholarships are offered for those in need. If you know someone who could benefit from this program, please direct them to www.riseyogagettysburg.com/book-online or contact instructor Alli Crowell directly at riseyogagettysburg@gmail.com. Although the LoveYourBrain Yoga series will be offered regularly at RISE, Alli is also certified to share this course outside of the studio in clinical settings and other wellness spaces. Reach out if you are interested in hosting LoveYourBrain Yoga in collaboration with RISE.
