GENESEO, N.Y. – Junior Connor Elliott (Media, Pa./Salesianum) placed 47th out of 404 runners to lead the Gettysburg College men’s cross country team to a 15th-place finish among 33 teams at the Mike Woods Invite hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.

The Finish Line

  • The Bullets finished with a score of 398 points while three personal-records were set in their largest race of the season. The fourth-ranked SUNY Geneseo captured the team win with 32 points and Ezra Ruggles collected first-place for the Knights.
  • Elliott ran the 8,000-meter course with a personal-record time of 26:08 to finish 47th. This marked the third time in his career he ran an 8K in 26-minutes or less.
  • Placing as the No. 2 runner for the Bullets was McKeever as he crossed the finish line in 26:29 to claim 65th.
  • McKeever was followed by senior Will Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton), who came in 70th with a PR time of 26:34 before seniors Luke Matzke (Collegeville, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Charles Norelli (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) took 120th and 182nd in 27:21 (PR) and 28:16, respectively, to complete the team scoring.
  • Finished as displacers were senior Jack Kenyon (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields), who came in 191st in 28:24, and freshman Greg Himstreet (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), who was 282nd in 29:48.  

Coming Up

Gettysburg takes a week off from competition before hosting the newly named Aubrey Shenk Invite on Oct. 16.
