The Healthy Adams County Behavioral Health Task Force will host Mental Wellness Day at the Adams County Farmers Market in Gettysburg on Saturday, May 16.
The free community event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the market and is designed to promote mental wellness through activities, education, and community engagement. Organizers say the event will feature more than 15 wellness vendors and a variety of activities focused on reducing stress and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
Scheduled activities include yoga for adults at 9:30 a.m., mindful walking at 10:30 a.m., yoga for children at 11 a.m., and massages from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. An art activity will also take place from 9 to 11 a.m.
One of the featured attractions will be Mushu the pony and Introspection Horsemanship, which will offer opportunities for visitors to interact with the therapy pony from 9 to 11 a.m. Organizers say animal-assisted activities can help support emotional wellness and reduce anxiety.
New this year will be raffle prizes available throughout the event.
The event is being presented through a collaboration between the Healthy Adams County Behavioral Health Task Force, the Gettysburg Area Recreation Authority, the Adams County Farmers Market, and Collaborating for Youth.
Mental Wellness Day at the Market is intended to provide residents with practical wellness resources while also creating a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. Organizers say the farmers market setting offers an opportunity to connect mental wellness with healthy eating, physical activity and community support.
The event is weather permitting.
The Adams County Farmers Market is held at the Gettysburg Rec Park area and regularly features local produce, baked goods, handmade items and community organizations throughout the spring and summer season.
