A long-standing local tradition will continue this year to honor veterans in the annual Memorial Day observance at Mt. Tabor in Gardners. The Memorial Day Service and Parade is scheduled for Friday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m., at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association located at 1345 Mt. Tabor Road. The parade will be held at Mt. Tabor Church and move directly to the cemetery grounds where the program begins immediately following the parade.
This community events brings together students, families, and community members to honor the nation’s fallen service members.
Upper Adams School District’s Ann Gerlitzki will led fifth and sixth grade chorus members in patriotic singing. The Apple Core Band will perform patriotic tunes. There will be a speaker from the Army War College. All are welcome to walk in the parade.
This ceremony provides a local, meaningful presence helping to carry on a tradition that emphasizes remembrance, respect, and community connection.
Organizers say the involvement of young people ensures that the significance of Memorial Day continues to be passed on to future generations.
There will be a snack stand with food and drinks available for purchase as a fundraiser for the church. Additionally attendees are invited to preorder chicken dinners by calling Bobby Guise at 717-677-638 by. It also serves as a fundraiser for the church. Orders must be placed by May 22, 2026.
If there is rain, the parade will be canceled and the service will be held inside the church.
