James Allen Sells, 88, of Taneytown, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg. He was the loving husband of Reda Louise (Sentz) Sells, who passed away on May 18, 2021.
Born April 19, 1937, in Littlestown, he was the son of the late Otto and Helen (Tressler) Sells.
Jim was a master craftsman with high attention to detail. He began his career as an advanced-skilled carpenter; however, he retired as the Office Manager at Baltimore Gas and Electric. Years ago, he was a very active member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, Taneytown; Jim was Superintendent of Sunday School, taught adult Sunday School, served as a commission of witness, and was a member of the cemetery committee.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Sells (Cynthia), Littlestown; daughter, Lori Small (Chris), Hanover; sister, Sally Soika, York; grandchildren, Becky Moser, Alicia Aiello, Andrew Sells, Katy Keyser and Chelsea Small; great grandchildren, Bailey Moser, Evan Moser, Leland Sells, Caroline Sells, Nora Sells, Prue Sells, Gretchen Keyser, Lucy Keyser, Reese Aiello, Dane Aiello, Mia Aiello, Lyla Aiello, Kylan Small and River Small and daughter in law, Elizabeth Sells, Spring Grove.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Terry Sells and Otto Sells, grandson, Payden Sells and son, Keith Sells.
A private funeral service will be held at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Sells, Matthew Aiello, Adam Keyser, Leland Sells, Evan Sells, and Jason Moser.

I have fond memories of James. One of the first smiling and very welcoming faces when I first went to Piney Creek as a young girl. I know he will be missed greatly by many. Rest in peace my friend. My sympathy goes out to his family and those who were closest to him.
