Kimberly MacKenzie-Smith, 52, of Littlestown, formerly of West Chester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, following a three-year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of James A. Smith, with whom she shared 18 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on August 25, 1973, in Ridley Park, Kimberly was the cherished daughter of Donald, Jr. and Joan M. (Przeklasa) MacKenzie of West Chester.
Kimberly was raised in West Chester and graduated from West Chester East High School with the Class of 1991. She proudly served her country in the United States Army from
1992 until 2000. Following her military service, she earned her degree from West Chester University in 1999 and began a career dedicated to helping others. For nearly 20 years,
she worked as a Surgical Technologist with WellSpan Health, where she was respected for her skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Outside of work, Kimberly embraced life with a spirit of adventure and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She found her greatest happiness on the farm caring for her beloved horses and other animals. She and her husband shared a love of traveling and creating lasting memories together. An avid cyclist, Kimberly proudly completed a remarkable 162-mile ride along the Great Allegheny Passage, a testament to her determination and adventurous nature. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family and friends, whose love and companionship meant everything to her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Kimberly is survived by her brother, Donald MacKenzie and his wife, Adrienne; her sister, Kristen Walters, and her husband, John; mother-in-law, Barbara Smith; brothers-in-law, David Smith (Sharon) and Joel Smith; stepson, Donald Hamel (Rena), many nieces and nephews, as well as many loving extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, William Smith.
There will be no public viewing. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Two Mile High Farm, 201 Ulricktown Rd, Littlestown, PA.
