
Steve graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1956 and began farming in Fairfield. He developed a passion for farming from helping his grandfather on the family farm. From an early age, he loved working with horses and won many ribbons as a teenager showing them. While farming, Steve drove bus for the Fairfield Area School District for 50 years. For many of those years, he was an independent contractor. During that time, he also drove bus for Mountain Manor Rehabilitation Center. Driving bus was not just a job, for Steve it was a way to connect with the community. He loved driving the kids to and from school, to their sporting events, and on field trips. He also served as a Hamiltonban Township Supervisor for many years and most recently was a member of the Planning Commission. Steve was a member of Gideons International and a longtime member of Iron Springs Brethren in Christ Church. He participated in many activities including leading worship and teaching Sunday School. Steve loved his five grandsons. He enjoyed having fun with them and attending all their various activities.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Iron Springs Brethren in Christ Church at 11: 00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the service at Fairfield Union Cemetery. There will also be a viewing at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, PA 17320 on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 6:00 p.m.â 8:00 p.m.
