Pennsylvania will be represented at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall after a bipartisan effort by the state’s two U.S. senators and a coalition of business and agricultural organizations secured private funding for the Commonwealth’s participation.
U.S. Sens. Dave McCormick and John Fetterman announced the partnership after learning Pennsylvania was not among the states planning exhibits for the fair, which is part of the nation’s America 250 celebration. The senators worked with Brooke Rollins and several statewide organizations to organize the effort.
The Pennsylvania exhibit will be funded entirely through private partnerships and will not use taxpayer dollars.
The coalition includes the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, PennAg Industries Association, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, National Federation of Independent Business, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association and Manufacturer & Business Association.
The exhibit will highlight Pennsylvania’s role in American history as the birthplace of independence while also showcasing the state’s agriculture, manufacturing, small businesses and innovation.
Business and agriculture leaders said the fair provides an opportunity to present Pennsylvania’s economic strengths and historical significance to visitors from across the country during the semiquincentennial celebration. They noted that agriculture remains the state’s leading industry and that manufacturers and small businesses continue to play a major role in Pennsylvania’s economy.
The Great American State Fair will bring together exhibits from participating states on the National Mall as part of events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Pennsylvania’s display is expected to feature the Commonwealth’s history, businesses, farmers, industries and other contributions to the nation’s development.
