Ploughman Cider Taproom Celebrates St. Patricks’ Day Online and Plans for the Future

It was not your normal St. Patrick’s day evening at the bar. But Ben Wenk and his musical group, Chuck Darwin and the Knuckledraggers, brought joy and Irish celebration to people who could not attend the scheduled show at the Ploughman Cider Taproom last night.

The Knuckledraggers’ show, cancelled due to the virus, was live-streamed over Facebook from the taproom.

“People were jazzed for it. It was a way to allow folks to celebrate St. Patricks’ Day from home,” said Wenk.

“We recorded over 2,000 viewers. That’s some proof of concept,” said Wenk.

“It’s hard to figure out what to do with all our employees. And it’s tough to cancel all the musicians,” said Wenk.

Wenk said the taproom was hoping to host more live stream concerts in the coming weeks, and has other plans to stay afloat during the emergency.

“We’re looking into delivery, and we’ll be doing some farm sales,” said Wenk. We have potatoes, apples, canned goods, and other products from our farm in Biglerville.” We’re expecting to do a pre-order with curbside pickup.”

“It’s been a challenge to figure out how to provide for the people who are important to us without taking any health risks. Hopefully what we do can help,” said Wenk.
