Slideshow: Gettysburg Basketball Celebrates its Departing Seniors

Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, girlfriends, and boyfriends came from far as Los Angeles to see their senior loved ones play their final games at Gettysburg College last weekend.

The families were rewarded with two excellent games against Muhlenberg College on Saturday.

The women played first. Before the game, the senior quartet of Keira Cesareo, Ashley Gehrin, Emma Hahner, and Sofia Taveras were honored with a ceremony. These four seniors have led the Bullets to the most successful four-year period in program history. Their achievements include being the only graduating class at Gettysburg to capture 20-plus wins in each year, four postseason appearances, one Centennial Conference championship, and two berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The women continued their winning ways with a 72 to 60 victory. Senior Ashley Gehrin scored 17 points, which still keeps her ranked eighth in program history with 1,261 points.

Although this was the Women’s final home game, they will play again in the Centennial Conference
Tournament at Haverford College.

It was then the men’s turn where seniors Andrew Gardinier, Danny Duffey, Nick Lord, and Nick Andolini were honored for their contributions to Basketball at Gettysburg College.

For their final home game, the men played hard to the end. They tied the game 72-72 with 29 seconds left on the clock. But it was not to be. With only 2 tenths of a second left a foul sent Muhlenberg to the line where they sank both shots making the final score 72-74.

The men’s team and their fans will anxiously wait until November for the start of the 2020-21 season.
