GETTYSBURG, Pa. The Gettysburg College softball team has clinched the 2021 Centennial Conference title for the fifth time in program history after having the best league record. By capturing the conference crown, the Bullets earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Regional Championship.
The Bullets captured this year’s conference title based on having the best winning percentage of .700 (7-3 CC record) in regular-season play. The Centennial Conference decided there would be no championship tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gettysburg has now claimed five CC titles overall with two occurring in the last four years. The team will also be making its fourth trip to the national stage. Portia Hoeg, the Executive Director of the Centennial Conference, will present the trophy on Sunday at noon. Fans will be able to tune in and watch the celebration via live stream.
Gettysburg was scheduled to play against Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday, May 1, but that doubleheader has been cancelled. The Bullets will now play against McDaniel College in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, May 2, with game one to start at 2 p.m.
The Bullets will find out who they will play in the NCAA tournament when the selection show airs on Monday, May 17 at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com.
Gettysburg will recognize its two seniors – Shelby Baker (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) and Emily Colline (Bridgewater, N.J./Immaculata) – prior to the start of game one against McDaniel.
