Gettysburg Area School District (GASD) is facing an estimated $185,000 loss in federal funding for the 2025-2026 school year due to a freeze in key education programs. This includes a reduction of approximately $108,000 in Title II funding, which supports professional development for educators, $19,000 in Title III funding for English Language Learners, and nearly $58,000 in Title IV funding that helps expand educational technology, promote school safety, and provide staff training in crisis prevention and student well-being.
While this loss presents challenges — especially with the timing needed to make effective changes to the budget — our district remains committed to maintaining these essential supports for students and staff.

To limit disruption of these vital services, our District plans to use its unassigned fund balance and further evaluate next steps as needed.

So enjoy making some cuts. Just teach the kids.
Time to cut wasteful spending. Isn’t this what it’s all about. Stop crying about the loss of public funds that are used to support programs of questionable educational value. Get rid of computers in the classroom and put back chalk boards with real teachers educating your kids. Perhaps our kids will learn how to read, write and do simple math.
I imagine that most people didn’t think THIS would happen when electing a new federal administration. Voting has consequences – please remember this.
Im happy it did. Stop stealing my money, educate your own kids. They are your responsibility not societies.
