Upper Adams has long been known for its close-knit community and commitment to helping every child succeed. Now, we have the opportunity to strengthen that legacy with a Dual Language Immersion program beginning in kindergarten.
Extensive research shows that students in dual language programs not only close the achievement gap but often outperform their peers by middle school. When children first learn to read in their strongest language, those skills transfer to English and accelerate literacy for all students.
About one-third of Upper Adams students come from Spanish-speaking homes. Dual language learning builds on that strength already present in our community. It brings students and families together, promotes mutual respect, and gives every child the chance to become bilingual, biliterate, and bound for success.
Beyond the classroom, bilingual graduates are more competitive in college, careers, and service to their country. With thoughtful planning and community support, Upper Adams can blend its small-town heart with a forward-thinking vision, giving our children the advantage they need to thrive here at home and wherever the future takes them.
