Waldo’s and Company, a leading non-profit dedicated to fostering artistic expression, advocating for local artists, and providing a substance-free, creative environment for the Gettysburg community, is excited to be expanding its leadership team!
In response to several years of growth, the Waldo’s team has recognized its need to add a new directorial position and proudly announces Wendy Halperin as its new Executive Director.

Long time Director and Founder Chris Lauer will continue alongside Wendy in his capacity as Waldo’s Creative Director and is excited to be able to be more hands on with the artistic side of the vision while benefiting from the years of experience that Wendy brings to the organization.
With a master’s degree in social work earned over three decades ago, Wendy has dedicated her career to empowering underserved communities. Her extensive experience in grant writing, budget development, and non-profit management brings valuable expertise to her new role.
Beyond her administrative role, Wendy is a passionate artist, specializing in natural light portraiture and street photography. Her commitment to capturing raw emotion and authentic beauty through her lens reflects her deep connection with the human experience.
Wendy combines her compassion, intuition, and love for the arts into a unique approach to community development. Her unwavering commitment to the arts aligns seamlessly with Waldo’s and Company’s mission, and she is eager to channel her skills into her new role.
Teaming up with Chris Lauer, Creative Director, Wendy Halperin expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am honored to join Waldo’s team and contribute to the continued growth and well-being of the Waldos community—an amazing space for people to create art, listen to music, and engage in meaningful conversations. Through the fusion of administrative expertise, non-profit experience, and a passion for the arts, I am dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.”
Waldo and Company welcomes Wendy Halperin as the catalyst for positive change, embodying the organization’s commitment to community empowerment and artistic expression. The Board of Directors is confident that Wendy’s leadership, combined with Chris Lauer’s creative vision, will propel Waldo and Company to new heights.
There will be a reception to welcome Wendy and introduce her to the community held at Waldo’s & Company on April 5th from 6-8pm in conjunction with our monthly gallery opening featuring Baltimore artist @_kastxr.
