The Adams County Arts Council (ACAC) hosted the 2024 Juried Art Exhibtiion Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening at Schmucker Gallery on the Gettysburg College Campus. The 20th anniversary of the event was also celebrated with a Toast the Artists Celebration.
Wendy Halperin, Executive Director at Waldo’s & Co., received the Nanette Hatzes Grant for hre photography portrait project of members of the LGBTQ+ community, which will be on display in October at the Arts Education Center. The award was presented by Max Bramel
Recent Gettysburg Area High School graduate Lucy Page received the Mel Shull award to use for her future studies in photography. The award was presented by Lee Baer Shull.
Winners of the 2024 Juried Art Exhibition are:
BEST IN SHOW AWARD – $1,000 – presented to Andrea Finch for Echinacea Purpurea X: My Mother-in-law’s Tablecloth (Quilted Textiles)
2ND PRIZE AWARD – $750 – presented to Joh Ricci for Reclining Bloom (Fiber, hand-knotted techniques)
3RD PRIZE AWARD – $500 – presented to Jaci Rice for Magenta Evening Commute (Acrylic on canvas); Jaci was not able to attend the ceremony.
4TH PRIZE AWARD – $250 – presented to Anne Finucane for Skaters (three-block linocut)
5TH PRIZE AWARD – $200 – presented to Dora Townsend for Ellsworth Kelly Sanibel Vision (photography)
ADAMS COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL/JAE COMMITTEE AWARD (chosen by ACAC JAE Committee) – $200 – presented to Terri Yacovelli for Golden Hour (encaustic)
LANDSCAPE AWARD (chosen by the Land Conservancy of Adams County) – $500 – presented to Sarah Maclay for Over Yonder (acrylic)
PURCHASE AWARD (chosen/purchased by Anthony Kylor and Amado Mesa of A&A Village Treasures) presented to George Radeschi for B227 (wood)
BLICK ART AWARD (chosen by JAE Committee) $250 in Blick Gift Certificates – presented to Jim Whetstone for Ribbon Box (wood)
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD – ACAC Membership for one year and certificate for a free class – presented to Harold Zabady for Nightfall on Canal Street (oils)
The Award Presentation was followed by the Toast the Artists Celebration in the Atrium on Gettysburg College’s campus, featuring the Buzz Jones Quartet.
