While going through a pile of papers on my desk, I found this prayer. I suspect it was something we had used in one of our worship services, but the source and author are long forgotten. I also think I may have used it previously in one of my blogs, but it is certainly worth sharing. No matter what, the prayer remains very relevant to our lives today. I especially appreciate the way it views faith, not as a comfort, but a prod, and a reminder that we are to be God’s hands and feet, heart and soul in this world in which we live.
May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace.
May God bless you with tears to shed with those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war so you may reach out to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.
May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in the world so that you can do what others claim cannot be done to bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor.
Amen
You go girl! Always timely, always wise….
An imperative prayer and a call to action.
Thank you, Joyce!
