Adams County COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Remains a Trickle

Moving into the tenth week of vaccine deliveries in the state, opportunities for first-dose shots in Adams County remain limited or non-existent.  Neither the Adams Cumberland Pharmacy system nor the Wellspan system currently show any available openings for first-dose appointments.

The PA Department of Health said it delivered about 2,000 doses of vaccines during the week of Feb. 8, but none were delivered last week.

Wellspan said they learned last week that vaccine providers across the Commonwealth had requested more second doses of the Moderna vaccine than Operation Warp Speed was able to provide.  This required them to reschedule some of their already-scheduled first-dose appointments.

Wellspan says they are administering over 10,000 doses every week across their 15 primary care offices and 7 hospitals, most of which are not in Adams County.

Those interested in a vaccine should register for a MyWellSpan account as there is an option on that site to be able to receive notifications when new appointments become available.

For those interested in a vaccine who do not have internet access, please call the COVID-19 hotline at (855) 851-3641.

Hotline hours:

Mon – Fri 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sat 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The state remains in Phase 1A, vaccinating only those 65 or over or with a limited list of pre-existing conditions.

  • It sounds like the front end of the Covid-19 vaccine pipeline may soon be filled with fresh supply. I do hope so for the great people of Adams County. Jesus has a plan for us and He loves all of His children.

My wife and I are scheduled for our second Moderna Vaccination on March 19th at Wellspan. We hope that the new vaccine supply will work its way to us then.

It seems to me that a better way to centrally schedule our vaccinations should be available in our Commonwealth. I am seventy and diabetic 2. I can’t figure out how to work my way through a dozen local providers adding my name to all lists. Fortunately, we are already utilizing Wellspan and the process was simple.

Maintain hope and prayer for all of us.

  • It’s March 7th and I am beginning to see the Johnson & Johnson one shot vaccine being used to vaccinate the great people of Adams County. I am joyous. I hope all can continue to struggle successfully with this terrible pandemic. Jesus loves all of His children.
