COVID cases decline in Adams but are still higher than other areas

Recent data show that Covid-19 cases in Adams County have fallen by 20 percent in the past two weeks, but that the number of cases per 100,000 remains higher than the U.S. average and many other local regions.

The current positive test rate in Adams is 35 positive cases per 100,000 people tested suggesting widespread community transmission.

There are currently 21 people hospitalized with Covid-19 in the county with 2 on ventilators.

Because of high spread rate and the fact that only about 1/2 of the people in Adams County are vaccinated, people in Adams County are at an extremely high risk for Covid-19 infections. The C.D.C. recommends that even vaccinated people wear masks here.

Since January of last year, at least 1 in 7 people who live in Adams County have been infected, and at least 1 in 438 people have died.

Thank you for this update on COVID in our area. Wish there would be something like this at least weekly in the Gettysburg Times!
