Gettysburg Connection is celebrating its fifth birthday this month.
Happy Birthday to us!
It’s been a wild ride, and I can’t really believe we’ve made it this far. We’re making a difference in the community and bringing people from around the county together.
We report hundreds of trustworthy local news stories and build community engagement; over 45,000 people visit our website every month.

And our readers appreciate us. Hundreds of generous residents have supported us through financial memberships, and we’re hoping many more will help us kickstart our Community Outreach Program at this year’s Giving Spree (We’re number 47).
Those contributions are absolutely essential to our mission. So thanks to all of you who have contributed.
Our staff met earlier this week to talk about our work and celebrate our accomplishments. We all agree there’s a lot to be proud of.
But we also found ourselves disappointed. Disappointed because, frankly, we don’t hear enough from you, our readers.
Many people leave comments on our posts and we sometimes hear from some of you that way. That’s important, but we don’t receive many letters from you.
We publish reader comments in our Community Voices Page and we want to fill it up with your ideas. We want our Gettysburg Connection to go both ways. We share information with you and we hope you will share information with us. Your input will make us better.
As the fall weather moves in I’m hoping many of you will take a few minutes to share your thoughts with us. We have no word limits or deadlines. We’ll publish your letter when you send it. All we ask is that your contribution is constructive and represents your beliefs.
You care about our schools; you care about our environment; you care about our traffic and our parking; you care about affordable housing and our legal system, and you care about much, much more.
We will be highlighting your letters to us every Wednesday going forward. Will you please take a moment and contribute?
Hearing from you will be the best birthday present we could hope for.
Charles (Chuck) Stangor is Gettysburg Connection's Owner, Publisher, and Editor in Chief. I would like to hear from you. Please contact me at cstangor@gettysburgconnection.org.
If you’re looking for suggestions, can you make a section that shows more than 5 of the most recent comments? Often I’ve read the article – but I’d love to go back to see what others discussed – if only I knew there were readers adding comments. I don’t want to click on every article just to check. In general, I really like the Connection even though I live outside of your main focus of Gettysburg (still reside in Adams County). Some of our budget frees up soon, so you’ll likely be added into it. The more I read, the… Read more »
